These Awards are a University-wide initiative designed to allow students and staff to nominate those teachers making most impact and difference to student experience and success. We are delighted to share that the Dental School was very well represented among the winners this year, adding to the School’s success at these awards in recent years.
Congratulations to Scott Jones, Mo Saqib, and Sanford Grossman (a.k.a. ‘The Friday Oral Surgery Team’) who won the award for ‘Inspiring and Innovative Teaching Team’; and to Ali van den Berg who won the ‘Outstanding Personal Tutoring/Academic Support’ award. In addition, Ali was awarded the Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Education that is awarded to the winner who, in the opinion of the Vice Chancellor, really stands out as brilliant in an already excellent field. The awarding panel noted Ali’s warmth, compassion and ability to build students’ confidence.
Professor Barry Main, Head of Bristol Dental School said: “I am very proud of our School’s teachers who were recognised at this year’s Bristol Teaching Awards. Staff in our School received a very large number of nominations, and I am delighted with how well the Dental School was represented among the winners this year.”
