Course Objectives

The day includes practical exercises on pigs’ heads to simulate clinical scenarios and enhance confidence in advanced periodontal techniques.

By the end of the session, delegates should:

  1.    Be able to consider patient, site and clinician factors which may explain why non-surgical periodontal therapy (NSPT) is not working, and when to consider periodontal surgery. 
  2.   Understand the phases of wound healing and its role in periodontal surgery. 
  3. Be familiarised with types of periodontal bone defects, which enables the clinician to choose the most suitable periodontal surgery technique. 
  4. Understand the role of advanced surgical techniques.
