Endodontic / Periodontal Interface

This 1-day course offers the opportunity to enhance your understanding of the pathophysiology of the endo-perio lesions, use of CBCT in improving diagnosis and treatment planning as well as familiarisation with new treatment approaches and materials.

Course requirements: Applicants must have a BDS or have a Dental Therapist or Hygienist degree.
Course Objectives
- Discuss and demonstrate restorability of teeth with respect to perio-endo interface.
- To become familiar with “New” vs “Old” Endo-Perio classification
- Being able to recognise clinical features of endo-perio lesions
- To become aware of anatomical, histological and pathological pathways of communication between endodontic and periodontal spaces (n.b. this includes resorption cases, perforations and cracks/fractures)
- To understand the role of CBCT in diagnosis and treatment planning
- To become familiar with novel treatment strategies and materials
- To understand the importance of communicating with patients and need for continued periodontal care
- To discuss relevant perio-endo cases
- To perform practical exercises to cover the didactic teaching from previous lecture
