Endodontic / Periodontal Interface

This 1-day course offers the opportunity to enhance your understanding of the pathophysiology of the endo-perio lesions, use of CBCT in improving diagnosis and treatment planning as well as familiarisation with new treatment approaches and materials.

Course requirements: Applicants must have a BDS or have a Dental Therapist or Hygienist degree.

Course Objectives

  1. Discuss and demonstrate restorability of teeth with respect to perio-endo interface.  
  2. To become familiar with “New” vs “Old” Endo-Perio classification 
  3. Being able to recognise clinical features of endo-perio lesions 
  4. To become aware of anatomical, histological and pathological pathways of communication between endodontic and periodontal spaces (n.b. this includes resorption cases, perforations and cracks/fractures) 
  5. To understand the role of CBCT in diagnosis and treatment planning 
  6. To become familiar with novel treatment strategies and materials 
  7. To understand the importance of communicating with patients and need for continued periodontal care 
  8. To discuss relevant perio-endo cases
  9. To perform practical exercises to cover the didactic teaching from previous lecture
