EPSRC Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP) PhD Studentships

The School of Chemistry has funding available for a number of EPSRC DTP PhD Studentships to start in September 2026. These highly prestigious awards are open to UK and Overseas Applicants, and can be in any area of Chemistry research conducted at Bristol.

Firstly, interested applicants are requested to contact a potential Academic Supervisor to discuss and propose a one-page project outline and timeline. Following this discussion, applicants are advised to submit an application form via the portal.

The next School of Chemistry deadline for applications will be 19th January 2026.


PhDs in Technology Enhanced Chemical Synthesis (TECS)

Our fully-funded studentships are four years in duration and cover fees and stipend. We are seeking applications from national and international students covering the whole breadth of Synthetic Chemistry. 

The next deadline for TECS applications will be Sunday, 23rd November 2025. 

The second deadline date is Sunday, 25th January 2026.

PhDs in Aerosol Science

From drug delivery to the lungs to the transmission of disease, climate change to combustion science, new routes to materials to consumer and agricultural products, an understanding of aerosol science is crucial. The CDT in Aerosol Science works to equip the next generation of Aerosol Scientists with the skills needed to tackle the numerous multidisciplinary challenges that fall at boundaries between the physical, engineering and health sciences.

We welcome applications from national and international students. Our fully-funded studentships are four years in duration and cover fees and stipend.

NERC GW4+ DLTP Studentship

This is an exciting opportunity to apply for a project funded by the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC). We are now accepting applications for PhD projects commencing Autumn 2026 in the Earth, Environmental and Life Sciences.

It is important that you follow the detailed instructions provided when applying for the Doctoral Landscape Training Partnership (DLTP) and be sure to read the prospectus carefully. We advise you download the 'Admissions Statement' for Bristol and follow the instructions. The prospectus also shows other Bristol Schools offering projects under this DLTP.

When applying to NERC GW4+ DLTP projects, please include in your application the NERC GW4+ DLTP version of a personal statement.

There is an additional 'applicants questionnaire' that the DLTP require, so please also complete this at the time of application.

When applying for projects in the School of Chemistry, please choose 'Chemistry- PhD'' in the 'find a programme' box. You should refer to the project title and supervisor in your application. You will need to make a separate application for each project you wish to be considered for.

You may apply to a maximum of two projects within the School of Chemistry.
