Centres for Doctoral Training
The school of chemistry hosts two flagship EPSRC Centres for Doctoral Training: Technology Enhanced Chemical Synthesis (TECS) and the Centre for Doctoral Training in Aerosol Science.
Technology Enhanced Chemical Synthesis (TECS)
This CDT provides world-leading training in synthetic chemistry research, applied to many areas of human endeavour from the discovery of new medicines to the design of smart materials.
Centre for Doctoral Training in Aerosol Science
The Aerosol Science CDT brings together leading academic teams across a range of schools and faculties at 8 UK universities with industrial and public-sector partners in the areas of healthcare, material science, energy and transport, environment, consumer products and agrochemicals.
PhD studentships are funded for four years, and training includes technical and transferable skills, as well as world-leading research activities.
The centres bring together diverse areas of expertise to train scientists and engineers with the skills, knowledge and confidence to tackle today’s evolving issues, and future challenges.
They also provide a supportive and exciting environment for students, create new working cultures, build relationships between teams in universities and forge lasting links with industry.
