Jonathan Reid and Bryan Bzdek recognised at AAAR conference

School of Chemistry researchers Professor Jonathan Reid and Dr Bryan Bzdek received major recognition at the latest American Association of Aerosol Research (AAAR) annual conference in Buffalo, New York.

Professor Reid was presented with the David Sinclair Award, which recognises sustained excellence in aerosol research and technology by an established scientist still active in their career. The individual's research must have a lasting impact in aerosol science.

The citation reads:

"Jonathan has made seminal contributions to both our understanding of the microphysical properties of aerosols, through his unique laboratory studies of the physical and chemical properties of individual particles, and to the role of aerosols in the transmission of disease. His contributions to our science and our society are foundational and uniformly excellent. His abilities are nothing short of remarkable".

At the same event, which took place between 13 and 17 October, Dr Bzdek was elected as Chair of the AAAR's Aerosol Physics Working Group.

In this role he will lead organisation of technical sessions associated with his Working Group for an international conference that attracts around 1,000 people annually.

Founded in 1982, the AAAR is a professional organisation for scientists and engineers who wish to promote and communicate technical advances across all aspects of aerosol research. Aerosol Physics represents one of their 10 Working Groups.
