Hosted by the International Rare Cancers Initiative
AI is revolutionizing the field of pathology and oncology with the promise of predicting accurately biomarkers, prognosis, therapeutic response for precision medicine. While early work has been focusing on frequent cancer enabling for training on large histopathology datasets, AI models can also target rarer subgroups of patients; for instance, predicting rarer molecular subgroups in endometrial cancer or risk of rarer event such as distant metastases. Content will cover some of these principles, technical challenges in the context of rarer cancers, and how these techniques can be adapted when labelling (if any) is difficult and input data scarce.
