Do I Matter to Research?

Hosted by the by the Faculty of Health, University of Plymouth, funded by NHS England as part of ‘Developing a Research Skilled Workforce’ project.

We explore ways to improve access and equity to research and academic career development, through success stories and local initiatives by:

  • Discussing current barriers and facilitators for improving access and equity to research and academic career development
  • Showcasing initiatives striving to bring about intentional positive action to support and engage professional groups less represented in research and academic career development
  • Valuing diversity in research through celebratory stories

We will hear from guest speakers Amanda Dufley and Dr Vimal Sriram. Amanda will be sharing career progression experiences from inspiring clinicians across the region, within her role as Allied Health Professional Recruitment Lead. Vimal will share his own experience of developing a clinical-academic career in Occupational Therapy before becoming Head of Allied Health Professionals at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Trust, where he now advocates for others to integrate research in practice.
