Programming biological systems with synthetic biology

Hosted by the School of Biochemistry

The Biocompute Lab is fascinated by the possibility of reprogramming biology using synthetic biology as a foundation. In this talk, Tom will discuss their work on characterisation of genetic parts and regulatory circuits using sequencing technologies, biodesign workflows to augment the function of complex molecular machines like ribosomes, the spatial control of living collecyives using light, and some of the new directions we are beginning to explore to create artificial evolutionary processes that can accelerate the design of complex genetic circuitry.
