Support our work and make a difference
To catalyse genuinely innovative solutions, we depend upon a large and diverse network of people and organisations that support our core mission and the resulting projects and people. Philanthropy is helping drive discovery faster than would otherwise be possible. To date, we have received more than £3.5 million to support our work.
Here are just a few of the ways philanthropy has helped to secure a more certain future for our planet.
- Heat stress and women's healthHeat waves are increasing in intensity and frequency. There is a gap in research on the impacts of heat stress on women's health. The Cabot Institute Seedcorn Fund supported an interdisciplinary project to explore this topic with a focus on how pregnant women are uniquely effected. Dr Eunice Lo explains more about the work and it's impact.
- Developing autonomous drones for conservationResearchers at the University of Bristol and Bristol Zoo Project are developing autonomous drones for giraffe conservation in Cameroon. The project started with a small budget from the Cabot Institute Seedcorn Fund and has grown into a bigger project with impact far beyond the initial remit. Professor Tom Richardson, Professor Matt Watson and Dr Sam Penney discuss the project in this short film.
- Waves of Change'Waves of Change' brings together anthropology, climate science and animation to engage young people in climate change research and empower them to take positive climate action. In this film University of Bristol researchers, Professor Daniela Schmidt and Dr Camilla Morelli, and freelance animator, Sophie Marsh, discuss the impact of the project which was initially funded by the Cabot Institute Seedcorn Fund.
