Temple Quarter and Active Learning
The new Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus, currently scheduled to open for students in September 2026, has been designed to shake up traditional teaching methods and encourage different ways of teaching and learning.
The teaching spaces at Temple Quarter have been designed to actively engage students with their learning and foster collaboration. The 14 large active teaching spaces where students sit in small groups, encourage peer-to-peer discussion, concept creation, and problem-solving. The lecture theatre “in the round”, only 6 rows deep, breaks down hierarchical barriers between lecturers and students, enabling interaction, maintaining students’ focus, and encouraging richer engagement than conventional tiered lecture halls. Together, these environments prioritise interactive engagement, learner agency, and adaptive pedagogy, thereby enriching both individual and collective learning experiences.
This changes requires a great deal of curriculum redesign, but BILT are here to support you in this redevelopment. Watch the following video from PVC-Education, Prof. Tansy Jessop, to learn more.
