Doctoral Landscape Awards
We are proud to announce that the University of Bristol has been selected as one of the leading Higher Education Institutions to receive the prestigious Doctoral Landscape Award from the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC). This recognition underscores our commitment to strengthening and sustaining a vibrant Arts and Humanities research ecosystem.

Tuition fees up to the UK / home rate throughout the funded period

A maintenance stipend in line with UKRI rates

Research training support grant, up to £600 per year

Duration: 3.5 years, up to 7 years part-time

The Awards are open to both Home (UK) and International applicants, but AHRC policy stipulates that a limited number (a maximum of 30% of awards offered) are available to international applicants.
The AHRC Doctoral Landscape Awards are only open to students commencing their PhD studies within the Schools of Arts, Humanities and Modern Languages in September 2026.
Applicants that apply for the Research Scholarship as part of the Bristol Postgraduate Research Scholarships will automatically be considered for the AHRC Doctoral Landscape Awards.
Both the PhD application and scholarship application form must be submitted by midday UK time on Friday 23 January 2026.
