Performer Biographies

Nok Yin Chan — Violinist

Beginning violin from a young age, Nok Yin developed an early passion for chamber music, which grew into a dedicated performance pathway during his studies in Bristol. After graduating from the University of Bristol, he is now undertaking an MA in Music Performance.

His current research explores the collaborative mechanics of violin–piano partnership, focusing on acoustic balance, interpretive cohesion, and the evolving dynamic between soloist and pianist in duo repertoire.

He has performed widely across chamber ensembles including string quartet, piano trio, clarinet quintet, and piano septet. Building on this foundation, his postgraduate work investigates the technical and communicative nuances of the violin–piano duo, with particular interest in redefining traditional ensemble hierarchies.
