The Lascaux Notebooks
Paleolithic cave paintings at Lascaux in southwest France
Friday 7th February, 11.00 am, ARTS Complex, G.33
Professor Philip Terry (University of Essex) will talk about his discovery and translation of Jean-Luc Champerret’s ‘decoding’ of the Lascaux cave paintings as poetry. Terry and Champerret make the case for Ice-Age poetry: ‘oddly out of time, neither quite modern nor entirely ancient, yet inextricably entwining both epochs.’ (Simon Coppock, Minerva)
