Javier Milei and the Far-Right: Argentinian Politics Lunchtime Seminar

Javier Milei, a far-right candidate, was elected as President of Argentina in 2023, taking power in December last year. His election undoubtedly signals a drastic shift in the fabric of Argentine political culture. And in the few months he has been in office, his administration has made significant changes that deserve critical reflection.

This lunchtime seminar, hosted by Erika Teichert and Paul Merchant (HiPLA), will be an opportunity to collectively think about the implications of Milei’s election for both Argentina and Latin America. Paul and Erika will summarise the policies Milei has pursued so far, contextualise these within the Argentine context, and pose questions for discussion.

All welcome, and feel free to bring in your lunch!

This lunchtime seminar is organised by the Department of Hispanic, Portuguese and Latin Amercian Studies (HiPLA).
