Entry requirements
Prior knowledge of meat Science is desirable but not essential. A good honours degree (2ii) in Animal Science, Food science or Veterinary Science is ideal.
The minimum requirement for candidates who register for the Postgraduate Diploma or the Postgraduate Certificate is an ordinary degree, or the equivalent. For example, some of our best mature students have come to us with extensive industrial experience.
Candidates who register for the PgD or PgC may be allowed to transfer to the next stage of the programme depending on satisfactory progress.
A minimum IELTS score 6.5 in all categories (reading, writing, speaking, lestening) is required by those whose first language is not English. The following qualifications are regarded as being equivalent to an IELTS of 6.5.
- University of Cambridge, Certificate of Advanced English A
- University of Cambridge, Certificate of Proficiency in English C
- O level of GCSE English Language C
- Test of English as a Foreign Language to EFL,600 (or 250 for the new computer-based version).
Pre-sessional English courses
The University runs pre-sessional English courses for candidates who need to improve their language skills before starting the MSc course.
In-sessional English course
There is also a 30-hour in-sessional language course based at Langford for students who start the MSc course in October and would like to improve their language skills.
