Governance team

The Governance Team forms part of the wider Strategic Planning and Projects Division. The Division is headed up by Mr Steve Chadwick, the Director of Planning, Strategy and Change. 

The Governance Team provide support and advice to staff and the senior management team and support the Registrar and University Secretary to oversee the constitutional operation of the University as a whole. We also service key University Committees, including Court, the Board of Trustees, Senate, Audit Committee and the University Planning and Resources Committee (UPARC).

We offer advice and support to members of staff and students about the University's constitution, as well as its decision -making and policy development.

From September 2014, the Governance team also co-ordinate the School Reviews and Divisional Reviews process and is responsible for the University Risk Register and the Annual Risk Review.

Head of Governance - Katy Gullon

General Responsibilities: Katy is responsible for leading the University Governance Office, ensuring the provision of a professional secretarial service to the University's key committees. She is also responsible for sharing best practice in governance across the institution, aiding others in understanding the University's governance and decision-making structures and processes.

Katy works closely with the Registrar & University Secretary, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, the Director of Legal Services and the Director of Planning to ensure that the University's governance structures and processes operate in conformity with the University's constitution and audit, regulatory and legal requirements.

Senior Governance Officer - Sophie Melton Bradley (acting - maternity cover) 

General Responsibilities: Sophie services some of the University's senior committees and also supports and deputises for the Head of Governance as appropriate. She is also responsible for sharing best practice in governance across the institution, aiding others in understanding the University's governance and decision-making structures and processes.

Assistant Governance Officer - Helen Cole

General Responsibilities: Helen services some of the University's senior committees and also supports the Head of Governance and the Senior Governance Officer as appropriate. She can advise on the University's governance and decision-making structures and processes.

Governance Administrators - Julie Jervis and Sarah Marshall

General Responsibilities: Julie and Sarah are the Administrators in the Governance team, and the initial point of contact for most governance-related enquiries. They have a diverse role, primarily providing support for the Board of Trustees, Senate, Court and some of their sub-committees. Julie and Sarah are also responsible for preparing the University Committee Schedule.
