This is a mandatory 10 cp unit of the 180 cp MRes programme in Condensed Matter Physics. The unit focusses on theoretical modelling and simulation of electronic materials. The aim of the unit is to give students a grounding in the theoretical methods used to calculate calculate the physical properties of electronic materials. Examples of areas covered include group theory, many body theory and electronic structure calculations.
On successful completion of the unit, students will be able to:
12 x 1 hour lectures with on-line support.
Assessed open book course worksheets of problems and short essay questions (10 hours, 100%).
To be updated by unit lecturers each year.
