Methods of Assessment | |
The assessment strategy for the programme will ensure that theory and practice remain linked. Assessment through observation of a practice task, and/or the provision of practice-related evidence will be embedded in the assessment requirements for the programme. The practice task may also form the basis for critical and reflective analysis, as noted above. Progression through the programme will be marked by development through the sequence of observations of practice that will aim to demonstrate consolidation of the student’s competence at ‘experienced’ practitioner level and progression towards advanced standards of practice. By the end of the programme, students will be required to demonstrate the understanding and use of a complex range of capabilities that meet expectations outlined in the Professional Capabilities Framework for ‘advanced’ practice. Assessment through observation of practice will be carried out by experienced social workers and managers within the students’ employment context. These practice assessors will be appropriately qualified, supported internally by their organisation’s training section, and by regular University-based training sessions throughout each year, and subject to the oversight of the programme Examination Board. |
Statement of expectations from the students at each level of the programme as it/they develop year on year.

The full award is achieved through completion of a further 60 credit unit that comprises a taught element, providing a grounding in research methods, and a Dissertation or work-based project through which students will demonstrate appropriate practical, methodological and intellectual skills that have been developed through the Programme. |
