Bristol Master's Scholarship

The Bristol Master's Scholarship helps talented home students from a widening participation background access taught postgraduate study (MA, MSc, LLM or MRes) at the University of Bristol.

£2,000 per student available in 2024/25. Each award will be paid directly to the student in two instalments.

Successful applicants will be enrolled on a one-year full-time postgraduate taught programme at the University of Bristol.

Successful applicants can also be enrolled on a two-year full-time postgraduate taught programme but the scholarship will only apply to the first year of study.

Eligibility

You can apply if you:

  • have applied to study a full-time master's programme (MA, MSc, LLM or MRes) at the University of Bristol, commencing in autumn 2025
  • are eligible for home tuition fees
  • have already achieved (or are predicted) a 2:1 undergraduate degree
  • meet one or more of the University’s widening participation criteria
  • are an external applicant/non-University of Bristol graduate.

Before the scholarship is finalised you will need to have:

  • an unconditional offer to study
  • received a 2:1 or higher undergraduate degree
  • met any other specific conditions.

Our alumni discount provides support for our University of Bristol graduates. The Bristol Master's Scholarships is in place to support external applicants.

You are not eligible if you are an applicant for:

  • a PGCE, PG CERT, PG DIP and (MSc) (R) programme
  • a Master’s degree as part of your intercalation year.

How to apply

Before you can apply for the Scholarship, you must have already applied to study a full-time master's programme (MA, MSc, LLM or MRes) at the University starting in autumn 2025.
