Eligibility

To be eligible for an Alumni Grant: Travel you must be a registered student at the University of Bristol, both at the time of your application and at the time of the conference.

You should first exhaust other funds (for example, a scholarship, studentship or research group) before applying for an Alumni Grant: Travel.

The Alumni Grant: Travel does not fund:

  • electives;
  • Raleigh International projects;
  • research costs;
  • internships;
  • travel to undertake research.

Award

Every student at the University is eligible to receive travel grants to a total value of £300 during their undergraduate/intercalation programmes, and to a total value of £300 during their postgraduate programmes.

These awards may be made as either a single grant or as several smaller grants.

Joint presentations describing the same research can be awarded up to £300 in total (i.e. two students presenting can apply for a maximum of £150 each).

Awards cannot be made retrospectively (i.e. after travel has occurred).

Please ensure your current bank details have been entered correctly into your financial statement by following this step-by-step guide.

You can expect to receive notification of the outcome of your application within five working days of submitting the form, unless stated otherwise.

Other criteria

You must travel by the most direct and best value route. Where a choice of accommodation is available, you should choose the best value option.

If your application is successful and you receive a grant, you must publicise the support of the Alumni Grant: Travel at your conference, for instance by displaying the Alumni and friends logo (PDF, 801kB) in your literature or on posters.
