Book your transfer from Bristol Airport

Arriving at your accommodation

Your bus will make several stops when it arrives in Bristol.

You need to get off at the right stop for your accommodation.

At each bus stop, the driver will call out the name of the bus stop they have reached.

Find out which bus stop you need for your accommodation.

If your address is not on the list, we will drop you as close to your accommodation as possible. This will be explained in the confirmation email you get 4 days before your transfer.

Make sure that you know where you need to collect your keys from, in case the location is different to your accommodation.

Luggage

  • Make sure that you can move your luggage yourself. We are not able to help you carry your luggage.
  • We recommend that you bring luggage on wheels, and no more than 2 cases.
  • Tell us on the booking form if you have more than 2 cases.
  • If your luggage is unusual, such as a foldable bike or a large musical instrument, email io-welcome@bristol.ac.uk in advance to check we can carry it, as we are not always able to.

What happens after you have booked

We will email you detailed instructions 4 days before your transfer.

The confirmation will provide information including:

  • the meeting point at your chosen airport and how to find it
  • which staff will meet you and take you to the bus
  • the approximate number of stops that your bus will make
  • the location of your bus stop where you get off
  • an emergency contact phone number for you to use if you have any issues on the day of your travel. The contact number is available 24/7 during the airport transfer period.

Make sure that you familiarise yourself with your accommodation information.

If anything has changed since you completed your form, email io-welcome@bristol.ac.uk.

Staying in a hotel overnight

If you arrive late at night and cannot check in to your accommodation, you will need to stay in a hotel.

Arriving from an amber list country

You are allowed to stay in a hotel overnight in these circumstances. Read the government guidance on quarantine and testing if you've been in an amber list country.

Book your hotel before you travel to the UK as you need to add the address of this hotel on your passenger locator form.

You must transfer to your University or private accommodation the next day to complete your quarantine.

Ask the hotel reception to book a taxi for you. Taxis in the city centre cost £5 to £15. The cost will depend on how far you need to go.

Arriving from a country on the red list

If you have arrived from a country on the UK government's red list of countries you will need to stay in a government-approved quarantine hotel when you arrive.

You can book a University airport transfer if your quarantine hotel is located close to London Heathrow.

  1. Book your transfer for a date after your self-isolation has finished.
  2. Choose a time slot that gives you enough time to get back to the airport from your hotel.
  3. We will confirm the meeting point at your chosen airport and time of the bus 4 days before the transfer date.
