Senior Residents

Senior residents are students or members of staff who play a core role in the Student Houses set up. They oversee the day to day running of the houses, report maintenance problems, point new residents in the direction of the nearest pub or best takeaway, and will let them in when they lock themselves out.

As well as the smooth running of the house they also have a pastoral role. two senior residents They have the advantage of living amongst the students so have an  insight into problems and are able to act upon them more quickly.  Problems they may face include; homesickness, money worries, relationship breakdowns, academic difficulties, or problems within the house such as noise, washing up, or cultural differences.  All of the senior resident team receive training before they take up their positions and receive support from the Student Houses Office throughout the year.

Every year we look for new people to join our senior resident team.  We look for enthusiastic, organised and motivated people who want to make a valuable contribution to the life of the University and the students.  They are rewarded by gaining new skills, meeting new people and subsidised accommodation.
