Meet the Academic Development team

‌‌‌‌naomiDr Naomi Logan

Programme Manager

Naomi joined the University of Bristol in 2009, when she took up post as the first head of the Change Management team. In September 2014, Naomi was seconded into her current Programme Manager role.

Naomi leads the team which provides expertise to the Faculties in establishing their programmes and the projects within them. This involves working with Faculty leadership to create a clear vision and direction regarding the changes required, putting clear delivery frameworks in place, and ensuring that initiatives being delivered across the University align with its strategy.

Before joining the University, Naomi worked in a range of public and private sector organisations, including Greater London Enterprise, the then Learning and Skills Council and Ecorys UK, a private consultancy specialising in project management and policy study.

Outside the working day…
Naomi has recently passed her Grade 8 piano exam. When not tinkling the ivories, cheese and wine help her maintain her love of all things French, in tandem with watching Strictly Come Dancing.

markDr Mark Edwards

Project Manager: EFM Transformation Programme

Mark has worked at the University of Bristol since 2011, before which he completed a PhD in policy evaluation at Durham University. While at Bristol, Mark has been a fieldworker, project coordinator, trial manager and project manager for a series of health-based randomised controlled trials.

Mark also set up FAB Kids, an award-winning outreach programme which uses innovative technology and real time data, hands-on experiments and creative tasks to build awareness of the importance of healthy lifestyle choices for children. FAB Kids has delivered to over 1,200 children in the South West, receiving great feedback from children and staff along the way.

Outside the working day…
When not doing athletics or cycling, Mark’s main interests are watching athletics or cycling. He also enjoys cooking and a good Netflix series.

Sophie Turner

Project Manager: EFM Transformation Programme

Sophie has worked for the University for five years, during which time she has been an implementation officer and, now, a project manager. Before this, Sophie worked in several of Bristol’s software houses in the development of mapping and banking software.

Sophie’s current role encompasses project managing the tranformation of the School of Economics, Finance and Management

Outside the working day…
Sophie sings in one of Bristol’s community choirs, enjoys exercise and spending time with her family.

petePeter Tucker

Project Manager: ES 2030 Engineering Strategy Programme

Pete joined the University in September 2017. Previously, he worked for Avon and Somerset Constabulary as a catalyst for change within the Criminal Justice Department, with a focus on Safer Detention. Pete is now a supporting the ES2030 strategy, which will look to develop and enable significant growth in academic activity, student numbers and research in the Faculty of Engineering.

Outside the working day…
Pete enjoys spending time with his family, struggles(!) with exercise but still maintains weekly trips to the gym.

debbieDebbie Firth

Implementation Officer: EFM Transformation Programme and ES2030 Engineering Strategy Programme

Debbie joined the University in September 2017, and is initially focused on the School of Economics, Finance and Management Growth Programme.

Before this, Debbie worked at the Environment Agency for 11 years at its Head Office in Bristol. Her roles included setting up new ways of working to improve project and performance management, and managing the charges paid for by regulated businesses.

Outside of work, Debbie enjoys yoga, Zumba, baking, gardening and planning her next holiday!

tomTom Burnett

Communications Manager: EFM Transformation Programme and ES2030 Engineering Strategy Programme

Tom has worked in the communications and publishing sector for almost 20 years. During this time he has written and edited publications and website content for a number of different sectors, including education, international development and travel.

Tom joined the University in March 2016, and oversees communications for the Academic Development team.

Outside the working day…
When not wrestling with his two young children, Tom enjoys spending time in the great outdoors, YouTube inspired DIY and wishing he could work remotely from either India or Brazil.‌
 

Ali Arnold

Academic Development Officer

Ali first joined the University in 2015 and has worked within Bristol Dental School and the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences. Ali studied English and Psychology and has previously worked for Cardiff University and the University of Wales and for an Engineering Consultancy in a variety of supporting roles. Ali now supports the Academic Development team within Strategic Programmes and Projects.

Outside the working day…

Ali enjoys music, reading and walking and avoiding cooking wherever possible.
