Wellbeing Resources

If mental health is something that comes up during your mentoring conversations, there are many options and resources open to staff. Please use the resources we've listed here to help look after yourself and your colleagues.

Wellbeing - Internal Support

  • Mental Health and Wellbeing - Staff Strategy (PDF, 4,897kB)

    This mental health and wellbeing staff strategy has been developed in partnership between the University and our Trade Unions to provide a framework enabling the whole institution to support mental health and wellbeing.

  • University of Bristol Wellness Action Plan and guidance

    A Wellness Action Plan (WAP) is a practical and proactive way to support your mental health at work. This is a well-used tool developed by the mental health charity MIND, which has been adapted for use by University staff. You can download a template and a user's guide and fill this out yourself.

  • Employee Assistance Programme

    The Employee Assistance Programme, or EAP, is available to all University staff. Run by Care first, it offers among other things, a helpline with confidential 24-hour personal assistance from experienced counsellors.

  • Staff Counselling Service

    The Staff Counselling Service can support you whether you simply want to talk something through with someone or if you would like help with more severe problems such as anxiety and depression. They can offer specific support for workplace issues such as acceptable behaviour, traumatic incidents and dealing with conflict.

    Breathing Space

    offered by the staff counselling service - You can learn mindfulness-based self-help techniques to help you find a place of calm and promote general well-being.

  • Positive working @bristol

    The University provides a range of services, activities and initiatives to enhance our staff experience of working at Bristol. It is recognised that advice and guidance can come from a variety of sources and cover a range of issues. As a result, a number of different services are available to help address issues that you may face at some time during your career at Bristol.

  • Staff Development wellbeing courses

    The University offers staff a range of courses and resources to help improve your mental and physical wellbeing at work and in life.

  • Report and Support

    The online Report and Support tool enables staff and students to report anonymously, seek advice from an adviser or make a formal complaint. If you have observed or experienced physical assault, sexual harassment, sexual assault, hate crime, harassment, bullying, discrimination, mental health problems or domestic violence, you can report these directly. Or if you are worried about someone else, you can also report this using the tool.
