Planning the induction and welcoming new staff

A good induction programme is invaluable in providing a welcoming and supportive introduction to the University is key in helping new staff settle into the organisation and become effective quickly. As a manager of a new starter, please log into Develop and see the Welcome and Induction Path, in particular the Induction Checklist

For academic appointments there may also be a need to assess what additional requirements the individual might need or request, e.g. start-up costs for new equipment and facilities, travel grants etc. As well as the CREATE scheme

There is also support for new staff coming from overseas.

Every department has an Induction Co-ordinator and you should liaise with this person to ensure that a thorough induction programme is set up in advance of the start date.
