To keep up to date with development activities available through Academic Staff Development and across the University.

To enhance teaching excellence for staff and complement the teaching aspects of CREATE, Academic Staff Development have designed a programme of themed sessions.

These sessions will take place between 12:00 and 14:00 (so please bring your lunch) and offer an opportunity to develop your teaching practice through sharing and reflecting upon your experiences.

13 November

Teaching Bites - Transitioning Students (PDF, 182kB)

This session will discuss how we equip students with the skills to be successful in Higher Education. 


5 December

Personal development planning

How can we engage students with PDP? Encourage students to reflect on their current skills, attributes and achievements? and plan their future personal, academic and career development? These questions and more will be addressed in this session.


24 January

Motivating student groups

This session will focus on the different motivations of student groups (dependent on level, type of degree etc.) and consider varying ways to engage them.


15 February

Practical TEL

Focussing on popular learning and teaching tools, this session will explore the possibilities of using simple TEL strategies within teaching.


16 March

Field work

How to achieve effective active learning strategies within fieldwork will be investigated.


16 April

Sharing teaching practice

Centring on delegate experiences, teaching approaches, methods and techniques will be shared to learn from academic across the university. 


22 May

Evidence based learning and teaching

What does the latest pedagogical research say? How will it influence your practice? Current papers on learning and teaching will be discussed and critiqued in this session.


22 June

Reflective practice

This session will encourage delegates to reflect on current practice and review teaching from the academic year. How far have you come? How can you get further?
