Postgraduate research students

Academic Staff Development provides Learning and Teaching development for all staff and Postgraduate students (PGRs) who teach across the university. We provide opportunities to develop teaching practice throughout your postgraduate studies which are tailored to your experience and requirements.

  • Starting to Teach

This one day mandatory induction session is designed for post-graduate research students who have teaching duties as part of their role at the University of Bristol. It enables postgraduates to acquire the knowledge and skills to start establishing themselves as confident, enthusiastic and effective teachers.

  • Beyond Starting to Teach

Academic Staff Development have designed a programme of informal themed 90 minute lunchtime sessions to enhance teaching excellence for PGRs. This year we have designed a programme of themed sessions on ‘Supporting Student Transitions’.

  • CREATE for PGRs

Cultivating Research and Teaching Excellence (CREATE) for PGRs has been designed to enable postgraduate researchers from a range of teaching backgrounds and experience to engage with and gain national recognition for their teaching practice and leads to the award of Associate Fellow HEA. This runs over eight months with one enrolment a year during Autumn.
