Pathway 1

Introduction

There are a number of CREATE routes available for Pathway 1 staff depending on their level. Each route leads to recognition from the Higher Education Academy.

Level 1 & 2 Standard routes

As part of University of Bristol's commitment to educational excellence, Pathway 1 staff appointed at levels B or C (Lecturer) are required to complete Levels 1 and 2 of CREATE Standard Route as a requirement of role unless they have previously gained an equivalent qualification. It takes upto 16 months to complete both levels, split across both levels. Completion of the Standard route leads to recognition against D2 UKPSF (Fellow of CREATE and Fellow of the HEA).

Level 1 Standard route followed by Level 2 Standard route

Level 2 Experienced route

If you are a recently appointed Senior Lecturer or Senior Teaching Fellow, you will be required to complete the Level 2 Experienced route (in place of the Standard route). The time to complete this will depend on your previous teaching experience and current teaching and could be between 3-16 months. Completion of Level 2 Experienced Route leads to recognition as a Fellow of the HEA (FHEA).

Level 3 & 4 Experienced routes

Individuals working towards Level 3 or 4 Experienced route will normally have a considerable level of expertise, developed over time, in supporting high quality student learning in all dimensions of the UKPSF. Completion of Level 3 leads to recognition as a Senior Fellow of the HEA (SFHEA) and Level 4 as a Principal Fellow of the HEA (PFHEA).
