Academic Staff Development – advancing and supporting academic excellence

The Academic Staff Development (ASD) team aims to enhance excellence across the range of academic practice by developing individuals and championing development provision across the University. We support academic staff on all three pathways by identifying, designing and providing professional skills development across all elements of the academic role. Through creating a tailored, holistic approach to development, as well as working with other professional services departments to promote the opportunities that they provide, we deliver development to enhance skills and practice in the following key areas:

ASD also collaborates across Human Resources to support and contribute to policy related to the academic community such as progression, promotion and performance enhancement.

In addition, ASD leads on the University’s Early Career Researcher agenda, coordinating our Concordat Implementation plan, the Research Staff Reps and Research Staff Working Party committee, providing specific advice and support for researchers across the University.
