The role of housing in sustainable adult transitions: UK Japan compared

This is a research collaboration on the comparative analysis of young people’s transitions to adulthood. In post-growth Japanese society, the struggle of young people in making successful transitions to adulthood is well evidenced and debated. However, it is often in the context of family formation and labour market participation and conditions. This project will bring a housing dimension more fully into the analysis of the life-course transition in the post-crisis context since housing provides another critical dimension in order to support young people’s transitions and independence including sustainable employment and independent living from their parents.
