6th May - Bristol Seminar

"The King of Instruments - a Systems Perspective"

Arthur Lawrence from Safety Systems Research Centre (SSRC).

This presentation discusses some of the engineering requirements and solutions associated with the design and construction of pipe organs. The talk describes how it was possible to modify one organ by adopting a different philosophical view of one set of pipes so that they could be 'moved' from one manual (keyboard) to another by switching one wire.

" Statistical analysis of weld residual stress data"

Brahim Nadri from Solid Mechanics Group Abstract.

Room 1.11 Merchants Venture Building 12:30 to 14:00

4th March - Bristol Seminar

"Evaluation of uncertainty in Deep Hole Drilling Measurement technique"

Devkumar Goudar from Solid Mechancis Group.

Overview: The talk will consist of a brief introduction to Deep hole drilling (DHD) procedure followed by classification and evaluation of the uncertainties in DHD technique with some experimental results.

" Modelling and Measurement of Residual Stresses in Extracted Fracture Specimens"
