We advise researchers on a range of grant opportunities including European, overseas and UK funding for international research. We provide guidance throughout the application process.

Areas of expertise
- Supporting researchers in applying for EU and overseas competitive research funding, as well as UK funding which requires international partners.
- Supporting international research development through internal funding schemes to host visiting academics from around the world as well as mobility grants for Bristol researchers.
- Coordinating activities led by the Worldwide Universities Network (WUN), a group of 24 research-intensive institutions spanning six continents.
- Supporting the Perivoli Africa Research Centre (PARC) mission to champion transformative research collaborations between Africa and the global North.

- Horizon Europe's European Research Council (ERC) grants for researchers at all career stages - the ERC is particularly keen to encourage excellent proposals from Principal Investigators based in non-EU or associated countries.
- Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship Scheme
- Newton International Fellowships (the next round will open in 2025)
- European Research Council Synergy Grants
- Horizon Europe's forthcoming Global Challenges - working with European and global partners to address intellectually demanding and socially urgent problems. Details will be available in due course.
- International Science Partnership Fund (ISPF) provides funding to work with overseas partners and is managed by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology. The fund supports multi-disciplinary projects that tackle four broad themes: Resilient Planet, Transformative Technologies, Healthy People, Animals and Plants, Tomorrow's Talent. It also includes an Overseas Development Assistance funding stream. This supports research and innovation partnerships with low and middle-income countries to support sustainable development.

The University helps researchers establish and develop international links through a variety of schemes:
- Research Development International Collaboration Awards (RDICA) and Benjamin Meaker Annual Awards (BMAA) are coordinated by the International Research Development team.
- The Worldwide Universities Network (WUN) Research Development Fund is supported by the WUN Coordinator.
