A public engagement workshop

Our team delivers public engagement training for academic staff and postgraduate students through the CREATE programme, the Bristol Doctoral College and Doctoral Training Centres (DTCs).

We also provide specific and bespoke support to researchers, such as advice on appropriate engagement activities leading to impact, pathways to impact, or costing out engagement activities in grant applications.


Public Engagement with research: Why, Who, What and How – aimed at early career researchers or those who are starting out on the public engagement journey, this interactive session will provide you with building blocks of high quality engagement practice relating to your research. Public Engagement with research: what every PhD student needs to know – aimed at postgraduate research students, this session will introduce the notion of wider societal engagement with research with lots of practical, hands on examples of activities to help you decide who you might want to involve with your research and how best to do it. Engagement bites

Engagement Bites is a series of informal lunch time talks with the aim of sharing best practice and raising awareness of f innovative engagement projects taking place at the University. They provide a space for researchers working with the publics to network, share ideas and experiences and to discuss ideas with members of the Public Engagement team. Feel free to bring your lunch.

Engage conference 

Our biennial conference facilitates discussion and sharing of good practice on how the University is building connections with public groups and organisations. It is open to all University of Bristol staff, students and community partners. Get inspired by current activities and meet and exchange ideas with potential partners. Get support

We can meet with you one to one and offer tailored support to your needs. We have a Public Engagement Associate for each faculty to advise on public engagement with research, and an Engaged Learning team to help develop community based learning projects for your students.
