Part description |
Richard is sitting down cross-legged for a few moments, then he gets straight up again, turns side on and faces stage left. He extends his right arm and hand, pointing, or as if to shake hands or pull a trigger. His muscles are quite tense, looking at his hand he contorts his mouth and raises his arm higher. His fingers become more curled towards the palm he flexes his hand, his body leans into a clenching gesture. He's still observing his hand intently as he lifts his hand above his head and stretches his arm briefly. He exhales sharply and makes a raspberry sound “ppphhhut!”. He quickly makes a throat tapping gesture with his other, closed hand. “It is in now, I mean its there, home, in the home “ he makes the raspberry sound again and makes a simultaneous opening closing gesture with his hand in synch with the sound. He turns and looks stage right. He then walks off, stage right. With gestural references to Bailey Savage. Richard later associates these gestures with time, space and improvisation: “How long can I hold them for? All these images and stories are there. Can the really absorbent audience member have all that sitting inside them and experience this now as a potent moment?”. |
