Part description

The dusting cloths on his shoes were bought by Richard in Radom, a small town in Poland. They were acquired for his piece Samples of the Modern World (1997). Richard witnessed three women efficiently cleaning the wooden floor of a museum in Warsaw by gliding around the space with dusters tied to their shoes.

He states that this was the start of his performative cleaning activities, which began in 1996. Richard feels it important that these types of dusters are largely unknown in the UK. The other cloths scattered across the floor were bought in a pack of 50 from a hardware store in Finsbury Park, London.
