Part description |
The cuff was commissioned for the piece Tap, Ruffle and Shave in 1996 but was not included in that work. It was made by a textile artist working in Glasgow. Richard points out that the cuff was new and brightly coloured and, unlike the 35mm slides or video extracts, it still shows no signs of deterioration. The cuff was originally designed with a visually impaired audience in mind. Richard describes it as an 'appendage', falling between object and garment. The object was not originally intended to be seen like this as it was first placed inside a sculpture, in which you put your hand. |
