It is well known that people with learning disabilities have poorer health and die younger than other people. The Department of Health has commissioned the Norah Fry Research Centre and its partners to carry out a Confidential Inquiry to find out what can be changed to improve the health of people with learning disabilities to enable them to live longer.

The Norah Fry Research Centre has won research grants totalling over £1.9 million. They range from an evaluation of the community-based support offered by Medway County Council to parents with learning disabilities to a Confidential Inquiry into the premature deaths of people with learning disabilities.
