As such we are pleased to endorse and support the One City Climate Strategy which sets out how Bristol can become carbon neutral and climate resilient by 2030.
The University was the first in the UK to declare a climate emergency last year reaffirming our strong and positive commitment to take action on climate change.
The Cabot Institute for the Environment is at the forefront of world-leading research into environmental challenges and our expert academics provide advice and guidance to decision-makers on an international, national and local level.
This includes the creation of public engagement networks designed to engage local school students and young people about the environment and environmental issues with experts from the Institute.
The University has a long history of sustainability action, winning numerous awards for its work. Bristol was the first UK city with European Green Capital status in 2015 and our community played a large role in helping the city deliver this. Sustainability remains one of the central strands shaping the University's vision of the future. Only last month we announced that we have completely divested from all investments in fossil fuel companies.
We are committed to continue to embed sustainability in our teaching, build multidisciplinary communities of expert researchers and manage our spaces responsibly for all to enjoy. Working and researching with key partners across the city, we believe we can build a greener more sustainable future.
