This award builds on existing UK Research Council investment in 14 Bristol-led Centres for Doctoral Training (CDTs), Industrial Doctorate Centres, and Doctoral Training Partnerships, and will provide Bristol’s postgraduate researchers with access to a range of cutting-edge equipment and instrumentation for their work at the forefront of research across a wide range of Science and Engineering fields.
The new, industry-standard facilities will be available both to EPSRC-funded students and those not based in a CDT, enabling better engagement with industrial partners and providing relevant specialist experience to appeal to employers.
Professor Mark Beach, CDT Manager at the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Future Communications 2, said: ‘At Bristol we offer our research students a rich mix of theoretical and experimental PhDs. This strategic equipment award will enrich our facilities across the eight EPSRC CDTs with state-of-the-art equipment aligned with the training needs for the next generation of innovators’.
