Professor Dudley Shallcross, from the School of Chemistry, has been awarded the Royal Meteorological Society’s Adrian Gill Award for 2012.

Professor Shallcross received the award for a series of high-profile papers that describe, for the first time, pollutant dispersion in the urban environment using inert and reactive tracers.

The Adrian Gill Award, named after the Australian meteorologist and oceanographer, is given annually to a member of the Society who has made a significant contribution, in the preceding five years, to fields that interface between atmospheric science and related disciplines, including oceanography, hydrology, geochemistry and numerical methodologies.
