Famous student sketch troupe, the Cambridge Footlights, is coming to Bristol tomorrow [21 June] for a one-off performance with the University of Bristol’s very own comedy group – The Bristol Revunions.
Footlights was founded in 1883 and has launched the careers of many figures in the world of entertainment, including Sir David Frost, Stephen Fry, Germaine Greer, Eric Idle and the stars of Monty Python.
Bristol University has its own impressive list of talented alumni which features Matt Lucas, David Walliams and Simon Pegg.
Footlights and Revunions have a long-standing relationship thanks to performing alongside each other at the Edinburgh Fringe.
Matt Lister, Revunions’ Producer and President, said: “Revunions has performed in Cambridge three times in recent years and it’s exciting to finally have them visit Bristol. As fellow sketch groups we see a lot of each other at the Fringe and it’s a treat to be performing together and bringing a unique show to Bristol for one night only.”
Past members of Revunions include actors Dave Rappaport and David Bamber, the comic and pianist Colin Sell, and Greg Doran, the Chief Associate Director of the Royal Shakespeare Company. More recently, 22-year-old Charlotte Ritchie played the character of Oregon in Channel 4 comedy Fresh Meat – a role she started while still finishing her dissertation for her Drama and English degree last year.
