Held at the new Careers Service building, the event aims to address the increasing demand from graduate recruiters for students who can demonstrate employability skills. Sessions will count towards the Bristol PLuS Awards, through which students can record and reflect on the skills they have developed outside of their degrees.
The event will take the form of a full day of workshops delivered by the Careers Service, Research & Enterprise Development, the Students’ Union and Bristol PLuS Award-endorsing employers, including, among many others, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Sainsbury’s and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP. There will also be an informal networking event from 5pm where students can talk to employers to find out more about what they can offer and how to be successful in finding internships and graduate placements.
The event will include sessions on:
- Negotiation skills
- How to increase/develop employability while at University
- Teamwork
- Sharpening your skills through student enterprise
- How to get an internship
- Interview skills
- Leadership
- Presentation skills
- Networking
- Beyond Facebook: how Linkedin and Twitter can improve your employability
- Global career opportunities
