Angela Milln, who is the Acting Academic Registrar at the University, has been appointed as the Deputy Chief Guide in recognition of her commitment to the organisation since she joined as a Brownie at the age of seven.
The 47-year-old went on to become a Guide, a Ranger and a Young Leader and is now a Leader with 1st Southampton South Guides.
Angela then became involved with guiding at a district, division and county level, and most recently served as County Commissioner for Hampshire West.
She currently chairs Girlguiding UK’s marketing and communications committee and is lead volunteer for the Growing Guiding campaign, which seeks to increase the number of opportunities for young members and volunteers.
Angela said: “I feel hugely honoured to have been asked to take on this role and to have the chance to help shape the future of an organisation which provides life-changing opportunities for so many of today's girls and young women.”
Angela will be working alongside Chief Guide Gill Slocombe and together they provide core support and contribute to the decision-making process and development of the association.
