The main objective of programme is to provide support to young researchers initiating a scientific career in earth sciences to undertake leading-edge research contributing to the achievement of the new scientific challenges covering all aspects of the Earth system. Applications were invited from researchers in all 18 member states of the ESA, including Canada and the Czech Republic, with a particular focus on Earth Explorer satellite missions.
The Fellowship will provide two years of funding for Dr Griggs to pursue research on the recently and successfully launched CryoSat II mission, concentrating on the accuracy of elevation change measurements acquired by the satellite over the ice sheets of Antarctica and Greenland.
