Professor Jens Marklof has won a Whitehead Prize for his work on quantum chaos, random matrices and number theory.
Dr Harald Helfgott has won a Whitehead Prize for his very varied contributions to number theory, including work on Mobius sums in two variables, integral points on elliptic curves, and in particular for his groundbreaking work on growth and expansion of multiplication of sets in SL_2 (F_p).
The awards will be presented at the Society’s Annual General Meeting on 19 November.
