Big Ticks are awarded to companies whose programmes have demonstrated the positive impact of responsible business. Bristol ChemLabS achieved the Big Tick in the 2009 Bank of America Merrill Lynch Education Award for its outreach and engagement activities with schools, teachers and students of all ages, which were judged to have made a strikingly positive and sustained impact on the community. Last year, ChemLabS was also 'Highly Commended' in this category at a reception at St James's Palace, London.

This year, ChemLabS has been able to demonstrate that it is still a fantastic example of sustainable outreach that continues to have a significant positive impact both nationally and internationally.

Professor Eric Thomas, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Bristol, said: 'The ChemLabS team has brought chemistry to life for many schoolchildren and this reaccreditation is testament to the team's inspirational outreach activity.'

Bristol ChemLabS was presented with a Big Tick reaccreditation certificate at Leigh Court in Bristol on 10 June.
