Jeremy O’Brien wins quantum information award

Professor Jeremy O’Brien of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering has been awarded the 2009 European Quantum Information Young Investigator Award by QUROPE.

QUROPE (Quantum Information Processing and Communication in Europe) aims to co-ordinate efforts at the European level towards a unified, democratic and strong community in Quantum Information Processing and Communication (QIPC) research in Europe.

Professor O’Brien received the award for his pioneering contributions to optical quantum information processing and quantum measurement. The award, comprising a diploma and €3,000, was presented at the QIPC conference in Rome earlier in September.
