The project will bring the Bristol-based Emerald Ensemble into the Music Department as orchestra-in-residence, to serve as ‘laboratory’ and present public performances of compositional research. The core of the programme will be six concert premières, as part of the Ensemble’s Elektrostatic series hosted and sponsored by Colston Hall.
The project will also document and analyse the performances as social and cultural events, and as groundwork for a follow-on interdisciplinary research project on the combination of human and electronic ‘players’ in the orchestra.
