Organised by four Bristol neuroscience graduates and postdocs who won a competition to design a conference for early-career scientists, the event aims to provide undergraduates, post-graduate, junior post-docs and postdoctoral fellows with the opportunity to present and discuss their research, foster links and help career development.
Paul Farrow, one of the organisers of the ‘Young Life Scientists’ Symposium, said: “The symposium is a great event for all early-career scientists working in a field related to the neurological disorders. Our aim is to create a day in which young scientists can come and see just how important their research is in the future treatment of neurological diseases. The event also provides an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in networking and presenting to a large, peer audience.”
Dr Peter Reinhart, Head of Neuroscience Discovery for Wyeth Pharmaceuticals and Dr Giles Hardingham, Royal Society Fellow, University of Edinburgh, are the keynote speakers at the event being held in the Bristol Council Rooms.
The Biochemical Society, The Physiological Society, the British Pharmacological Society, the Genetics Society and Promega UK, have sponsored the event.
